Mad Men's Matthew Weiner making a stoner comedy with Jack Black and Matt Dillon

Mad Men director Matthew Weiner probably recognizes that he has certain expectations for his first feature film, none of which he seems particularly interested in meeting. The current master of the slow-burn, stylized dramedy and the pregnant pause seems to be harkening back to his sitcom days (where Weiner worked on shows like Becker and Andy Richter Controls The Universe) for his upcoming You Are Here, which concerns two thirtysomething slacker potheads. Said potheads are forced to grow up a little when one of them loses a father, then inherits his general store, country home, and millions of dollars worth of Amish farmland, which undoubtedly makes for all sorts of humorous culture clashing. Things become even more comically complicated when both of them start to fall in love with their father’s “younger bohemian” widow.

How else could this project be even less like Mad Men? Perhaps with the casting of Matt Dillon and Jack Black as the slackers, who are said to be replacements for previously attached stars Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis—which would certainly make for an interesting flowchart of Hollywood actor types. Save room on there for the transition from Jennifer Aniston to Renee Zellwegger, who’s said to be stepping in as Black’s stuck-up sister. And finally, an offer is reportedly out to Rachel McAdams to play the widow. If she balks, who do they slide down to? Elizabeth Banks?
